Patterson Elementary

Vallejo, CA

This undulating, scenic 10-acre site was designed and constructed in the mid 70’s and serves approximately 480 students. The open space of the campus is shared with the Greater Vallejo Recreation District to the north.

Through the years of use, the Vallejo City USD identified three major functional issues concerning the campus: (1) the Administration Building had become inadequate; and the sheer number of children enrolled demanded (2) a multi-use space and (3) a formal library, neither of which had been included in the original construction of the school.

The completed educational specifications identified the following needs:

• Confine construction costs to $3.2 million

• Design an 8,500 sq.ft. MP building with food

  service, stage and library

• Expand the existing play areas to

  accommodate the new MP Room

• Locate the new 3,600 sq.ft. Administration

  Building in its present location

• Expand the staff and visitor parking on the

  east side of the campus
